Creole Nougat, Cashew Nut Tablet - Kannel at Miskad

le mot d'Arawak Market

I'm in a playful mood, so I'll give you a little riddle.
My nut comes from the tropics, it is hidden in a red, fleshy, pepper-shaped fruit.
What am I?
A cashew nut!

Once I'm ripe, there are a thousand and one ways to make me delicious. At "Kanel et Misakad", Nicaise, who makes homemade péyi (local) sweets, loves to roast me and dip me in cane sugar. And here they are, transformed into the delicious West Indian nougat that I am.
I am simply unique, because Nicaise prepares me following an old-fashioned recipe, inherited from her mother.

ADVICE FOR USE
A small Creole sweet from the past, I bring to your gourmet break, a typical taste of the islands. Spoil your friends or guests by offering them a piece of my tablet to accompany their tea or coffee. I'm sure to create a surprise, because I'm much more original than a cookie or a square of chocolate.
