le mot d'Arawak Market
This Guadeloupe rum bears the initials "JR" of the distillery's founder, Joseph Reimonenq. This cuvée of the ReimonenQ JR series is distilled in double column, then aged for 4 years in ex-bourbon oak barrels. It is a rum with woody, tobacco and liquorice flavours and a gourmet, chocolatey finish.
The nose opens with a golden agricultural rum, with a nice patina of wood. The oak is rich and thick, its rounded grain rolling under the nostrils. It develops greedy and fatty notes of nuts, even peanut butter.
A Reimonenq delicacy begins to emerge, all in subtlety. Dried fruits and tobacco then quietly intrude within an ever so rich and greedy woodiness.
The palate is very light on the attack, then it is taken over by a toasted oak that captures the attention of the taste buds. The agricultural rum becomes warmer, the cane juice swells and takes on more volume.
The finish lets in some chocolate and prune notes, but all this greediness remains controlled by a peppery agricultural rum.
